As we approach the end of the year, I’ve been reflecting on what I’ve learned after 14 years of running OMD — and especially the biggest lesson 2025 taught me.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with business owners who have been running their companies for 20, 30, even 40+ years. And no matter the industry or size… their answer to building a truly successful business is always the same:
“Great people.”
Not great luck.
Not great branding.
Not even great products.
Great people — in the right roles.
And after 14 years, I couldn’t agree more.

ToggleThe 3 Roles Every Successful Business Must Have
(Especially a medical practice)
Whether you're running a clinic, a medspa, or a surgical practice, your success depends on having the right people in these three core roles:
1. The Managers
These are the people who keep the business running and scalable.
They can be:
- Practice Manager
- Marketing Manager
- HR Manager / Consultant
- Legal Advisor
- Accounting & bookkeeping
- External agencies for specialised areas…etc
A clinic without good managers is always chaotic.
A clinic with good managers becomes predictable, efficient, and scalable.
2. The Technicians
This is you - the doctor, surgeon, injector, specialist.
It’s the role most doctors default to.
But staying here alone limits your growth.
3. The Visionary
This is also you - the leader who sets the direction.
Where the clinic is going.
How it will grow.
Who you want to become in the next 3–5 years.
You can be the Visionary and Technician.
But you cannot be all three.
If you try, you’ll end up with:
- No time
- No systems
- No growth
- And a clinic that relies 100% on you
You’ll have a high-paying job, not a business.
My Biggest Lesson in 2025
This year, I dedicated an enormous amount of time to interviewing, vetting, and hiring the right people for OMD.
I worked closely with two excellent HR consultants who helped us source talent worldwide. My managers and I personally interviewed, tested and vetted every candidate thoroughly.
And the result?
We made some of our best hires in years.
We’ve already seen quick wins, stronger performance, smoother workflows, and higher accountability - because we finally found the right people for the right roles.
And that’s the lesson I want to share with you:
👉 Finding the right people takes time, effort, and persistence.
But once you find them, everything changes.
Your business becomes lighter.
Your mind becomes clearer.
Your systems become stronger.
And suddenly, you get your time back - so you can focus on the work only you can do.
Whether that’s surgery, strategy, expansion, or brand-building…. the right people buy you the freedom to grow.
As You Step Into 2026…
My wish for you is simple:
Build your clinic with intention.
Choose your partners wisely.
And surround yourself with great people who allow you to operate at your highest level.
Because when you have the right Managers, the right Technicians, and your Visionary role fully activated — everything falls into place.
