PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
Welcome to OMD TV the place to be to grow and scale your practice.
In previous videos and podcasts, I have showed you a lot of marketing and business strategies to build up your practice.
You might have been wondering, how will I find the time to get all of these things done? I have to see patients; I’ve got children that I need to spend time with... you name it. I’m busy!
And I hear you. Life feels busier than ever. And that seems to mean that we have less time to manage our practice and implement the ideas that we’d like to.
Well... I've got one very simple suggestion that will help you to get all of those important strategies implemented, that will help move you closer to getting your practice to where you want it to be.
When I was small, my mom used to tell me to get up early so I could have a fresh and focused mind to study and do my homework; and I still find that to be golden advice today.
One of the best decisions that I‘ve made over the last few years in terms of getting all of my important work done, was to join the 5 am club. I started around 5 years ago, and I’ve never looked back.
This is one of the key attributes for getting my business to grow by 166% since I first joined this club, and I’m going to explain why.
When you rise before the sun, you get the world to yourself, you get to do important work that matters to you without any distractions.
When you get up when things are still dark, you get to enjoy small subtle details, like hearing some birds singing, fresh air flying through the window, quiet moments that you don’t get to experience when world is up and running at its noisy hustling best.
Tranquility is now the new luxury. You will get to enjoy that luxury when people, emails and social media are not up and active yet to distract you.
You will have full mental focus and an ability to work at a high level – impacting your often delayed projects like writing that book that you want to use as the lead magnet for your website, or working on that webinar that you’ve never had the time for, or writing out a standard of procedures policy for your practice.
I’ve been accomplishing more in that time, because I’m able to focus and dedicate myself exclusively to it. The early morning time is the best time of the day to do that creative work, or the most important and highest impacting tasks of the day.
What I’ve been doing is turning off my phone completely from 9 pm to 9 am the next day, so I’m not reachable during this period of time which is an important time for me to rest, recharge and work on my important tasks.
I work intensively from 5 am to 9 am each day to get all of my key tasks done. That is the only way I’m able to get my latest book completed in one month, not several months or even in one year.
By doing this, I’ve managed to get all of the projects that I had planned to achieve within this year done within the first 6 months of the year already; all the books, webinars, podcasts, video content and the company’s 2 new websites have all been completed within the first 6 months of this year.
A key valuable tip that I’d like to remind you of, is to keep your phone off during this early period as much as possible. Unless you are on a call or on a mission that you need to keep your phone next to you, I would suggest turning off all of the apps notifications on your phone.
Because every time you got distracted by a message or an app notification on your phone, the cognitive fuel in your brain gets drained a little bit more out of you, and you will mentally become exhausted just by being distracted and making insignificant decisions such as should I check out this message or that notification. And in the end, you will have little energy left in the tank to get work done or make any important decision.
I’m honestly surprised seeing parents letting their kids play with Ipads or Iphones for hours, that is seriously dangerous. Do you know that Steve Jobs (the inventor of the Iphone, who did a brilliant job at marketing his products), himself and Bill Gates raised their kids to be tech free. If nothing else, that should be a red flag to parents and us as adults. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs — seldom let their kids play with the very products that they helped to create.
Anyway, my point is that your phone is costing you a fortune, you should only use it when you need it. When people keep saying…you need to manage your time better. I think we should be saying... “Stop managing your time and start managing your focus.” Don’t let busy work get in the way of your life’s work. Make your purpose a priority.
Remember the way you begin your day sets up how you live your day. You have all the power to completely own your morning and set your day, your year and your life for success.
For me, joining the 5 am club was a game changer, and it helped me to achieve many of the things that I didn’t think that I could achieve in the last few years while running a business; a TV and Podcast show, travelling and participating in a couple of sporting activities at the same time.
Once you join this club, soon you’ll be able to breathe again and move on to the things that matter most to you.
If you are interested in learning more about this topic, I recommend that you read a book called “The 5 Am Club – Own Your Morning & Elevate Your Life” written by Robin Sharma, there are 15 million books sold worldwide.
I hope you enjoyed this video today. Now, as I said... the morning is the best time to learn… so, if you haven’t had time otherwise to attend our 3 Must-Do Strategies to Generate More New Patients and Referral webinar, I would suggest that you spend one of your first early hours of your morning attending our latest webinar. I’ll leave the link to it in the show notes below so you can sign up for it after finishing this video.
Thanks for watching and I hope to see you in the webinar.
