OMD’s 9th Year Anniversary

Valentine’s Day is not just a special day for people keen to celebrate love and romance. For me, on this very special day 9 years ago, my love, my baby, called Online Marketing For Doctors (OMD) was born.

I moved to Australia in 2011 as a poor student without any connections; no job, money, or family and friends. Just two suitcases and more than $100,000 of student debt from my MBA program in the US.

I started out sharing a room with another student, living in a tiny old house with 8 other students, with no heater and just one bathroom to share.

Every night, I could feel the cold, high-pitched whistling winds blowing through the rattling bedroom window, keeping me awake at night. Life didn’t look so promising back then.

But I had this dream on the first day that I stepped foot in Australia of creating a leading digital marketing agency for medical practices, and that dream has kept me going until today.

I remember vividly, on my second day at the University of Technology Sydney where I was doing my Masters of Marketing & Communications; my teacher asked me what I want to do with my career?

I replied “I want to build and run a successful digital marketing agency. Can you show me how can I reach out to the UTS alumni network?”

2 months later, I landed my first client who was a UTS alumni, and one client led to another which led to another, and my referral work just grew from there.

Today, 9 years later, OMD has grown incredibly well, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work that my wonderful OMD team has done supporting doctors and surgeons across Australia and around the world, to achieve their own dreams for their practices.

We are continuing to expand our reach internationally to North America, Asia and Europe, providing digital marketing services to Chinese and Spanish speaking communities, helping our clients to provide their offerings to new and growing markets.

And so, while today is a great day in the story of OMD, that story is still being rewritten every day with new exciting challenges and opportunities in this dynamically changing and ever-growing industry.

The past 9 years has been an incredibly exciting, difficult, challenging, heartwarming, eye-opening, and inspiring period for me, that I look forward to the next 9+ years with openness and enthusiasm, keen to see where this journey takes me and OMD next.
